“Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!” - this triumphant proclamation echoed not only within the sacred walls of Orthodox temples, but also across the wounded yet unbroken land of Ukraine - carried in deeds of mercy, in hands extended with compassion, and in hearts aflame with the light of the Resurrection.

During the bright and holy days of Pascha, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the United States of America, through the Consistory Office of Christian Charity and in partnership with the Saint Andrew’s Society under the leadership of Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay, once again revealed the living Gospel - not merely preached, but embodied.

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Antony and under the archpastoral guidance of His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, this sacred mission of love reached deep into Ukraine - into Bykivnia, Pavlohrad, the Dnipro region, and even to the front lines of war - through the dedicated ministry of His Eminence Metropolitan Serhii of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the tireless service of Very Rev. Fr. Kostyantyn Kuznetsov, Dean of the Donbas region.

In the quiet rooms of a hospice in Bykivnia, where time often moves slowly and memories fade, something miraculous occurred. There, among the frail and bedridden elderly - many burdened by illness and dementia - the joy of Pascha was reborn.

Paschal baskets, filled with blessed pasky, eggs, and simple foods lovingly donated by local faithful, were placed into trembling hands. And suddenly, eyes that had grown dim began to shine again.

“They became like little children,” shared one volunteer. “Their joy was pure, unguarded… holy.”

Clergy entered each room, chanting “Christ is Risen from the dead…” - and the sacred melodies pierced through the silence, awakening hearts long burdened by loneliness. Holy water was gently sprinkled, and in those moments, the grace of God filled the room more powerfully than any medicine.

Metropolitan Serhii reflected: “When we bring Pascha to those who can no longer come to the Church, we fulfill the very heart of the Gospel. In their suffering, we meet Christ Himself.”

In parishes such as Holy Trinity Church in Bykivnia, and throughout surrounding communities, children - especially those displaced by war, those with disabilities, and those who have known fear too early in life - received Paschal gifts prepared with love. These were not merely packages of food and hygiene supplies. They were signs of remembrance.

Each child who received a blessed paska, each small hand that held an Easter egg, each smile that broke through hardship - became a testimony that they are not forgotten.

Fr. Kostyantyn Kuznetsov shared with deep emotion: “For these children, Pascha is not only a feast - it is a healing. When they receive these gifts, they receive a message: ‘You are loved. You are not alone. Christ is with you.’”

From Bykivnia to Pavlohrad, from parish halls to temporary shelters, the Church became a mother - embracing her children in tenderness and care.

Even in the most dangerous regions - where destruction has replaced normal life, and where the sounds of war attempt to silence hope - the Paschal message was carried forward.

Through extraordinary efforts, including the use of creative and courageous means of delivery, Paschal gifts reached Ukrainian soldiers defending their homeland.

Blessed pasky, prayer cards, and essential supplies were delivered to those who stand in the “grey zones” - places where even humanitarian vehicles cannot safely travel.

Metropolitan Serhii offered these words of gratitude: “To our defenders, we bring not only bread - but the blessing of the Resurrection. In every paska delivered, we proclaim: Christ has conquered death, and life shall prevail.”

And in trenches and temporary shelters, weary soldiers received these humble gifts with tears - not of sorrow, but of strength renewed.

The work extended further still - reaching internally displaced persons, elderly individuals living alone, and people with disabilities across regions like Pavlohrad and Dnipro. Thousands received carefully assembled food and hygiene packages - each one prepared with dignity and care.

A volunteer from the Social Ministry shared: “For many, this is not just a package - it is a sign that someone remembers them, that someone cares. It is the presence of Christ in their lives.”

Reflecting upon this sacred mission, His Eminence Archbishop Daniel spoke with profound spiritual depth: “Pascha is not only a proclamation of Christ’s victory over death - it is a calling. A calling to become bearers of His light in a world overshadowed by suffering. When we place a paska into the hands of a child, when we stand beside the elderly, when we reach those on the front lines - we proclaim with our lives: Christ is Risen, and His love is stronger than fear, stronger than war, stronger than death itself.”

And again, with heartfelt emotion: “In every act of mercy, the Church becomes the living icon of the Resurrection. The light of Christ brings peace where there is turmoil, stability where there is fear, and hope where despair once lived. Ukraine suffers - but Ukraine also shines, because her people carry within them the unquenchable light of Pascha.”

Deep gratitude is extended to His Eminence Metropolitan Antony, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA for his ongoing support of these charitable efforts, and to Metropolitan Serhii and Fr. Kostyantyn Kuznetsov for their sacrificial ministry on the ground in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, together with the Saint Andrew’s Society and countless faithful and benefactors - many of whom remain unnamed due to the realities of war - continue to stand as a beacon of hope.

Metropolitan Serhii expressed with humility: “This is not our work alone. This is the work of the entire Church - the Body of Christ. Every donation, every prayer, every act of kindness becomes a thread in the garment of God’s mercy.”

In the end, what was witnessed this Paschal season is nothing less than the Gospel alive.

In hospice rooms and village parishes… In children’s smiles and soldiers’ tears… In baskets of bread and whispered prayers…

Christ is Risen! And because He is Risen - love still triumphs, hope still endures, and the people of Ukraine are not alone. Indeed He is Risen!

«Христос Воскрес! Воістину Воскрес!» - це тріумфальне проголошення лунало не лише в стінах православних храмів, але й по всій пораненій, проте незламній українській землі - у ділах милосердя, у простягнутих із співчуттям руках і в серцях, що палають світлом Воскресіння.

У світлі та святі дні Пасхи Українська Православна Церква Сполучених Штатів Америки через Відділ Благодійної Опіки Консисторії УПЦ США та у співпраці з Товариством святого Андрія Первозванного під проводом протодиякона Ігоря Махлая знову явила живе Євангеліє - не лише проголошене, але й втілене.

З благословення Його Високопреосвященства Митрополита Антонія та під архіпастирським проводом Архієпископа Даниїла ця священна місія любові досягла глибин України - Биківні, Павлограда, Дніпровського регіону і навіть передової лінії - через віддане служіння Високопреосвященнішого Митрополита Сергія Православної Церкви України та невтомну працю протоієрея Костянтина Кузнєцова, благочинного Донецького регіону.

У тихих палатах хоспісу в Биківні, де час сповільнюється, а спогади згасають, сталося справжнє диво. Там, серед немічних і прикованих до ліжка літніх людей - багатьох із них обтяжених хворобами та деменцією - знову народилася пасхальна радість.

Пасхальні кошики, наповнені освяченими пасками, яйцями та простими дарами, щиро пожертвуваними місцевими вірними, були вкладені в тремтячі руки. І раптом очі, що вже втратили блиск, знову засяяли.

«Вони стали, мов малі діти», - поділився один із волонтерів. «Їхня радість була чистою, відкритою… святою.»

Священнослужителі входили до кожної палати, співаючи: «Христос воскрес із мертвих…» - і ці священні мелодії пронизували тишу, пробуджуючи серця, що довго несли тягар самотності. Лагідно окроплюючи всіх святою водою, вони приносили благодать Божу, яка перевершує будь-яке лікування.

Митрополит Сергій зазначив: «Коли ми приносимо Пасху тим, хто вже не може прийти до храму, ми звершуємо саму суть Євангелія. У їхньому стражданні ми зустрічаємо Самого Христа.»

У парафіях, зокрема при Свято-Троїцькому храмі в Биківні та в навколишніх громадах, діти - особливо вимушено переміщені, діти з інвалідністю та ті, хто надто рано пізнав страх - отримали пасхальні дари, приготовані з любов’ю. Це були не просто пакунки з продуктами й засобами гігієни - це були знаки пам’яті та любові.

Кожна дитина, що отримала освячену паску, кожна маленька рука з великоднім яйцем, кожна усмішка, що проривалася крізь труднощі, - стали свідченням: вони не забуті.

Отець Костянтин Кузнєцов із глибоким зворушенням сказав: «Для цих дітей Пасха - це не лише свято, це зцілення. Отримуючи ці дари, вони чують послання: “Ти улюблений. Ти не сам. Христос із тобою.”»

Від Биківні до Павлограда, від парафіяльних залів до тимчасових притулків - Церква стала матір’ю, яка обіймає своїх дітей ніжністю і турботою.

Навіть у найнебезпечніших регіонах, де руйнування витіснили звичне життя і де звуки війни намагаються заглушити надію, пасхальна звістка була донесена.

Завдяки надзвичайним зусиллям і мужнім способам доставки пасхальні дари досягли українських воїнів, які боронять Батьківщину.

Освячені паски, молитовні картки та необхідні речі були передані тим, хто перебуває в «сірій зоні» - місцях, куди не можуть дістатися навіть гуманітарні автомобілі.

Митрополит Сергій висловив вдячність: «Нашим захисникам ми приносимо не лише хліб, але благословення Воскресіння. У кожній пасці ми проголошуємо: Христос переміг смерть, і життя переможе.»

І в окопах, і в тимчасових укриттях виснажені воїни приймали ці скромні дари зі сльозами - не скорботи, а оновленої сили.

Служіння продовжувалося, охоплюючи внутрішньо переміщених осіб, самотніх літніх людей та осіб з інвалідністю в регіонах Павлограда та Дніпра. Тисячі отримали продуктові та гігієнічні набори, підготовлені з гідністю та турботою.

Один із волонтерів поділився: «Для багатьох це не просто допомога - це знак, що про них пам’ятають, що про них дбають. Це присутність Христа в їхньому житті.»

Роздумуючи над цією священною місією, Високопреосвященніший Архієпископ Даниїл сказав: «Пасха - це не лише проголошення перемоги Христа над смертю - це покликання. Покликання стати носіями Його світла у світі, затьмареному стражданням. Коли ми вкладаємо паску в руки дитини, коли стоїмо поруч із літніми людьми, коли досягаємо передової - ми свідчимо своїм життям: Христос Воскрес, і Його любов сильніша за страх, сильніша за війну, сильніша за саму смерть.»

І знову, зі щирим серцем: «У кожному ділі милосердя Церква стає живою іконою Воскресіння. Світло Христа приносить мир там, де є тривога, стабільність там, де є страх, і надію там, де панував розпач. Україна страждає - але Україна також світиться, бо її народ носить у собі невгасиме світло Пасхи.»

Щира вдячність висловлюється Його Високопреосвященству Митрополиту Антонію, Предстоятелю Української Православної Церкви США, за постійну підтримку цих благодійних зусиль, а також Митрополиту Сергію та отцю Костянтину Кузнєцову за їхнє жертовне служіння в Україні.

Українська Православна Церква США разом із Товариством святого Андрія та незліченною кількістю вірних і благодійників - багато з яких не можуть бути названі через реалії війни - продовжують бути світлом надії.

Митрополит Сергій зі смиренням зазначив: «Це не лише наша праця. Це праця всієї Церкви - Тіла Христового. Кожна пожертва, кожна молитва, кожен акт любові стає ниткою у ризі Божого милосердя.»

І врешті, те, що ми побачили цього Пасхального часу - це живе Євангеліє.

У палатах хоспісів… У парафіях і селах… У дитячих усмішках і сльозах воїнів… У кошиках із хлібом і тихих молитвах…

Христос Воскрес! І тому любов перемагає, надія живе, а народ України - не самотній. Воістину Воскрес!
